Veterinary Care That Comes To You

When your pet is more comfortable at home, we come to you.
Danbury Animal Hospital’s mobile veterinary service goes all the way back to Versatile Vets. It started with Dr. Jean Quaintance and Dr. Theresa Kaeser, and Don Quaintance, and it was built around a simple idea: veterinary care should feel personal, compassionate, and centered on the needs of each family.

We still believe that today.

We serve pets and families in Bethel, Connecticut, as well as Fairfield County, Westchester County, and surrounding communities, including New Fairfield, Brookfield, Danbury, Redding, Ridgefield, and North Salem. Mobile appointments are available Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment only.

Before We Had a Building, We Went to Driveways

Mobile veterinary care is not an add-on to our story. It is part of our beginning. What started as Versatile Vets helped shape the way Danbury Animal Hospital approaches medicine today: with compassion, clear communication, and a commitment to finding solutions that help pets live longer, healthier lives.

That legacy still matters. So does the belief that good veterinary care should feel approachable, dependable, and personal at every stage of a pet’s life.

Why Families Choose Mobile Veterinary Care

Why Families Choose Mobile Veterinary Care

A trip to the clinic works perfectly well for plenty of pets. For others, staying home is simply more comfortable, and the visit tends to go more smoothly because of it.

It’s a great fit for:

Pets who feel a little uneasy in the car or get overwhelmed in unfamiliar places

Cats, who almost universally consider the carrier a personal insult

Older pets who need slower, gentler handling

Big dogs and other family members who are tough to lift, load, and buckle in

Pets recovering from surgery or illness who are better off resting at home

Multi-pet households, where getting everyone into the car can be a bit of a production

Anyone who has a hard time getting out of the house, due to a disability, limited mobility, or difficulty finding a reliable ride

Caregivers who can’t easily step away, like someone looking after a family member or young kids at home

Families with schedules already stretched thin

What Types of Veterinary Care Can be Provided During a Mobile Visit?

Our mobile service covers many of the same everyday care needs you’d expect from us in the hospital, including:

Wellness care

Preventive care

Physical exams

Medical consultations

Treatment recommendations

Ongoing care planning

End of life care

If a pet needs more advanced diagnostics, such as  X-rays or other services that need to be done in the hospital, we’ll help you figure out the next step.

The Same Personalized Approach, Wherever We See You

Our team has always believed in knowing pets by name, understanding their history, and working closely with owners to decide what makes the most sense next.
That’s still how we work. No rush, no runaround. Just thoughtful communication, practical advice, and care that’s meant to help both pets and people feel supported.

How to Prepare for Your Mobile Visit

A little preparation can help your appointment go smoothly, and it can help your pet feel more comfortable, too. Before we arrive, please have your pet ready, and if possible, choose a quiet space where we can meet without too much distraction.

A few simple things can help:

Keep dogs on a leash or in a safe, contained area.

Have cats in a secure carrier or a small, quiet room before the visit.

Gather any medical records, medications, or questions you’d like to talk through.

Set aside a clean, calm space with enough room for the exam.

If your pet has a favorite blanket, towel, or toy, that can help them feel more at ease.

Try to stay calm yourself as pets often pick up on our energy.

If you’re ever unsure about how to prepare, just give us a call. We’re happy to walk you through it.
